For 75 years, since April 1895, three genertions of the Schwinn family have devoted their lives to producing the finest quality bicycles, incorporating and initiating the lates design concepts and manufacturing techniques.

When mom or dad went to the store to choose their first bike it was easy- take the red or the blue one. Today it is a much more difficult decision... filled with a sense of adventure and discovery. Schwinn bicycle come in three basic styles. Each of these styles has its own advantages for certain types of use, as follows:

Lighweights

Desigend for smoothe handling, added speed and endurance. Equipped with sturdy diamond type frame, narrow high pressure tires that reduce road resistance, tourist handlebars, or drop handlebars for increased pedal leverage. Light, fast and easy to pedal. Ideal for sports, touring and recreational riding. Recommended for adults.

Middleweights

Designed for strength and durability. With sturdy frame design to stand up under rough handling by children, wide low pressure tires that absord road shock. Built to last, but slower and heavier pedaling than lightweights.

Sting-Rays

Designed primarily for fun. Featuring hing maneuverability, short turns, quick starts and stops. With small wheels, short wheel-base, high-rise handlebars and long saddle struts. Thrilling to ride, with the same pep and "go" as a fine sports car.

Special Models

In addition to the three basic styles mentioned, the Schwinn line also includes custom-built Paramount models, tandems, unicycles, convertibles, stationary mdels and Adult tri-wheelers.

Derailleurs

Five rear sprockets with one or two front sprockets provide a choice of 5 to 10 speeds. Chain is shifted from one gear to next by manual stick shift.

Three-Speed Hubs

Gearing mechanism is enclosed in rear hub. Easily shift to low, normal or high.

Coaster Brake

First choice for young riders. Simple operation with positive stopping action by pressing backwards on pedals.

When you buy a new Schwinn bike from your local Schwinn Dealer, he will see to it that your bike is properly assembled, adjusted and correctly fitted to you so that it is ready to ride.

The saddle height should be adjusted so that the rider's leg is almost straight when he sits on the saddle with the ball of the foot on the pedal in its lowest position.

The handlebar should be set so that the grips are at a comfortable angle. This is usually at a slight downward angle pointing to the rear of the bicycle.

Hand levers should be located near the handlebar grips - but not touching them. The levers should be positioned below the handlebars at a slight angle outward from the vertical.

It's wise to have all Schwinn mechanical adjustments made by your factory-trained Schwinn Dealer. Many adjustments need special tools and knowledge. And a properly adjusted bike means more fun-filled hours of riding, and a mechanically safe bike.

NOTE: After selecting the style of bicycle you want, choose the frame size which is closest to your leg length. The height of the saddle can then be adjusted about two inches up or down for maximum comfort.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the many variation in bicycle styles manufacturing techniques and the typees of equipment provided, the leg lengths shown should be understood as only close approximations. The best way to select the right size of bicycle is to visit your local Franchised Schwinn Dealer and "try it on for size" under his direction.

Cycling enjoyment on a Schwinn bicycle begins by selecting the bike that's right for you , then adjusting it to your body size. Bike sizes are measured by the size of their wheels and also by the size of their frames. The size of the tire will tell you the wheel size. Frame sizes are measured by the length of the frame tubing from the saddle to the crank hanger.

To assure proper fit, first measure your leg length, fromn the crocth to the floor, wearing flat heeled shoes. Now check the chart to see which models are available in your size. Once you have selected the style of bike you want, choose the model in the frame size where your leg length is about midway between the minimum and maximum leg length shown. This will allow felxibility in adjusting the saddle height. - See opposit page.

But there's even an easier way! Simply visit your nearby Schwinn Franchised Dealer. He's a bike expert who can advise you on the proper bike selection, size and fit.

Lock your bicycle EVERY time you must leave it unattended. Don't make the mistake of leaving it unlocked and unattended for "just a minute."

Use a high quality lock and case hardened chain to lock your new Schwinn bicycle. Avoid locks which can be easily picked or broken and chains which can be easily cut with wire cutters.

Put your bicycle away in a lacked shed, garage or basement when you are not riding. Don't leave the bicycle in a yard or driveway where is can be seen.

Record the serial number of your bicycle in the space provided in your Owner's Manual and reatin this for your record.

If you have Homeowner's or apartment insurance, check to see if the policy covers bicycles.

A lock or chain merely slipped through the front wheel or front sproket does not provide adequate protection against theft.

To properly lock your bicycle and provide maximum protection , loop the chain through the frame and rear wheel AND around a post or other stationary object. Attach the lock and make sure tht the lock is fully closed.

Knott's Berry Farm...for an adventure in fun and unequaled entertainment. Ghost Town takes you back to wild wooly days of the old west during the california Gold Rush. You can actually visit with the old prospectors and Indian chiefs still roaming the streets.

Explore the depths of an abandoned gold mine in an ore car or experience first hand the excitement of sailing throught a logging flume in a hollowed out log. Dozens of other rides and attractions are awaiting you. In another part of Ghost Town you wil visit the charm of old Mexico as you step throught the archway of FIesta Village complete with colorful costumes and open stall markets.

In another area of Knott's, you won't want to miss a guided tour through the full-scale replica of Independence Hall. A costumed colonial guide will show you the Liberty Bell and let you hear the debates that took place at the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

You will remember a happy moment browsing throught the 52 unique specialty shops at Knott's. And while you are here stop and enjoy on of Mrs. Knott's famous Chicken Dinners or choose from a variety os tasty menus in our Steal House with its unusual Indian decor.
